Women around the world continue to struggle for autonomy over their bodies, for universal access to the medical treatment of their choice, and for the right to make decisions for themselves, their families, and their community. We raise our voices against these attempts to deny women their fundamental rights, and call for freedom regarding our bodies and ourselves. This exhibition brings together women who are Boomers, Gen Xers, and Millennials. The artists’ responses to the theme are informed by their personal experiences and practices. Our intention is to represent visually some of the many factors that contribute to the complex issues of woman’s health and reproductive rights. They include topics such as gender and sexuality; the small daily oppressions that impact self-worth; women’s physical and emotional security; the sustaining power of love and trust; and the strength of sisterhood.
