The Intimacy of Care features a body of work that Uli Brahmst has developed over the past two years. ”The domestic sphere with its many layers of visible and hidden realities has interested her for many years. The 2019 tapestry cycle Domestic Thread looks behind facades to unveil some of the difficult realities in the private sphere.” For the duration of the exhibition, Brahmst will offer “inspiration and materials” via an explorative fiber lab on Saturday afternoons. Visitors are invited to the space to “participate, observe, or research, and pause.”

Monsters; works in progress, features an installation and animation by Mara Trachtenberg. This new and developing body of work features larger than life drawings and an early version of an animation exploring Trachtenberg’s Monsters.

The Monsters grew from drawings of insects that use auto mimicry to hide in plain sight. Trachtenbergs’ monsters are manifestations of her fear and anxiety around watching our leaders espouse conspiracy theories, promote misinformation and create a reality built upon lies in order to direct our attention away from grappling with the enormity of the very real threats to our planet, our lives, and our democracy while pretending to advocate and fight for us
