Hera Gallery Presents:
THE RACE IS ON
A Sourdough Starter Race Competition
Start your engines and feed your sourdough starters because race day is approaching. In conjunction with the opening of Hera Gallery’s national, juried show DOUGH, we are baking up some competition with a unique and one of a kind race.
On October 16th we are asking local bread and baking aficionados to bring a bit of their sourdough starter to Hera Gallery where we will participate in a race to the finish line. There is no entry fee, but we welcome donations of baked goods for the event.
The rules are simple. The first starter to double in size wins! The objective of this race is to double the starter, and to give us all an opportunity to discuss the benefits of 'slow rise' in the context of the renewed interest in the 'art of sourdough' that has expanded during the pandemic like a good starter.
We are also pleased to have guest speaker and sourdough specialist, Jeff Collins from South County Bread Company. Jeff will talk to us about sourdough’s history - and also compete in our once in a lifetime sourdough starter race.
We look forward to seeing everyone’s well-fed starters on race day!
